The Tapestry
With its walls hung with seventeenth-century Flemish tapestries, this is one of the most atmospheric bedrooms in the house.

The tapestries reflects a luxuriant tradition that had become fashionable in Europe bedchambers from the mid-seventeenth century, whereby read-made hangings such as these with their evocative woven scenes of verdure were hung round the walls; and though the large fabrics rarely corresponded to the walls in size or shape, they were usually made to follow the corners of the room.

One of the most atmospheric of the bedrooms.
It was formerly Sir Charles Coote’s dressing room, located between the nurseries and Lady Coote’s bedchamber, overlooking Sir Richard Morrison’s kitchen court. The white marble chimneypiece in this room originated from the Georgian house that formerly stood at Ballyfin and was moved here from the former bachelor rooms on the ground floor.
