The Conservatory at Ballyfin
Hidden behind the bookcase in a corner of The Library is a doorway that opens like a scene from Alice in Wonderland. To the regency world, a conservatory indicated the 'residence of ease and elegance'. Designed by 1850s glass house star Richard Turner of London's Palm House, the conservatory was originally built as an Orangery in the 1848, added by Sir Charles Coote to indulge in the Victorian trend of introducing exotic fruits and flowers to cooler climates.
You can enjoy lunch in the surroundings of the Turner Conservatory from April to October. Our glass house dining room, which has been recently completely refurbished by Ballyfin interior designer Colin Orchard is a stunning place to relax and enjoy the very best of indoor, outdoor dining, protected from the elements.
