This spacious and comfortable room on the mezzanine is a welcoming bookish retreat.
The Little Library was formed from two bedrooms on the Mezzanine that had been joined together in the 1920's. This spacious and comfortable room on the mezzanine is a welcoming bookish retreat. The large bathroom looks out over the Pleasure Grounds and the Cascade. Featuring a four poster bed dressed with crimson drapery, bathroom with vanity room and bath tub.
Naturally the well-endowed bookselves dominate; however the pictures displayed here include 'Bliss' by the nineteenth-century Scottish genre painter Erskine Nicol (1825-1904), who enjoyed a successful career in Ireland, and a portrait by the Irish painter William John Leech (1181-68) of his wife Elizabeth, done when they were on honeymoon. The bathroom windows, looking over the gardens and the Cascade, are framed with beaded architraves of the late - eighteeth- century origin reused, like much of the joinery in this section of the house, from the old house of the Poles.
We are pleased to be able to offer our guests complimentary laundry, limited to five items per room per day. (Further laundry and dry cleaning available at an additional cost).
