The Lady Sarah Pole
Our Classic room combines historic charm with refined luxury featuring unique, elegant décor with antique furnishings. The room retains its corner fireplace with stunning carved rosette and the original grate. Over this is a touching portrait of a lady by eighteenth-century Irish Artist Thomas Hickey.
Named after Sarah, the daughter of the Earl of Drogheda, who married William Pole in 1748.
The Lady Sarah Pole married William Pole in 1748 known whose dedication to the gardens of Ballyfin contributed so much to its great renown in Georgian Ireland. The Lady Sarah Pole is located on the Mezzanine. With its corner chimney breast it evokes the atmosphere of an early Georgian interior. To the left of the chimneypiece hangs an engraving of Francis Wheatley's celebrated view of the Irish Volunteers assembling on College Green in Dublin.
